The Richmond Arms Hotel, lies on the main square of the village of Tomintoul, which is the highest village in the highlands standing at an elevation of over 1100ft. The hotel was built in 1898 as a fishing lodge, and is still a firm favorite of visiting fishermen. Set in the NE of the Cairngorm National Park, and on the Glenlivet estate, it is an ideal location for exploring the natural beauty of this part of Scotland. Close to many famous Distilleries, and not only situated on the Whisky trail, but on the Castle trail as well. The Speyside way passes to the north of the village, and the Lecht Ski centre is just to the south. To the SW of the village from the hamlet of Delnabo, lies one of the most impressive natural features, the Ailnack Gorge, and makes a great way of walking onto the Cairngorm Plateau. The Crown estate has newly built mountain bike trails around the village, and we can offer secure storage for visitors bikes. The Hotel has been closed since 2009, but after 6 months hard work, we are now fully open, and expect to gain our Visit Scotland 3 star rating later this year.We are a 25 bedroom hotel, have public and separate lounge bar areas, and a guest dining room. Lunches and evening meals can be eaten in either of our 2 bars, or in our dining room. For guests wishing to take a full day out, we can provide packed lunches and flask filling services. Pets are more than welcome, for a small extra charge, but please let us know in advance. We can provide secure storage for bicycles if required
